There is a range of prices for stem cell injections depending on the procedure. Basic autologous (taken from your tissues-bone marrow or fat) stem cell injection typically costs around $6000 CAD. However, as the procedures become more complicated the costs start to go up. Expanded stem cells (stem cells that are allowed to divide in culture to increase their number) or embryonic stem cell injections can cost up to $30,000 depending on the route of administration and the number of stem cells injected.

In order to access embryonic stem cells or expanded stem cells patients have to travel outside of Canada and therefore there are additional costs of travel.

At present time there is no conclusive evidence that the more expensive procedures have better outcomes than the less expensive ones.
